PORT SOLENT, Portchester, PO6 4TP

Just East of Portchester and overlooking Portchester Castle on the other side of Portsmouth Harbour is Port Solent. This small harbour which is regulated by lock-gates is surprisingly large with waterside flats and properties surrounding the moored boats.

It has various discrete areas but for most the Odeon cinema and Boardwalk are the main attractions.

The cinema has various screens and is much like all the rest of its genre. In comparison the Boardwalk is quite fun! There are plenty of  restaurants and pubs as well as some boutique shops. In addition there is a David Lloyd Fitness Centre and a creche.

The 17 restaurants are many and varied and offer a wide range of choices – food, ambience, price and quality.

The restaurants include: Brasseries Fish and Grill; Casa Brazil; ChimiChimi Changa; Flaming Rooster; Hot Rock Steakhouse, O Sole Mio; Richoux; Prezzo; Pizza Express; Zizzi; Harvester; Gracie-Ann’s Tearoom; Relentless HQ; Wildwood; Wetherspoon and Watermark pub.

My favourite ones are: O Sole Mio for Italian and Wildwood.

Many of the restaurants have outside sitting areas and you can watch the setting sun over the marina. Romance is not dead! There are frequently extra activities happening too, for example Craft Fairs and car meet ups so its an idea to have a look at https://www.portsolent.com/whats to check before you go.

There are also a few shops including Pavers for shoes and Rock+Snow / runnersneed for sports equipment, The Stash for crafty things and a few others.

To get there by car use PO6 4TP.

If you have been to Port Solent – what did you think? What is your favourite place to visit or recommendation?
