Ready for Easter? Got ideas for occupying the children? No? Here are some!

It’s probably going to be inclement – its the UK!! – so its always worthwhile to be prepared.. here at Chichester Self Catering  you can stay cosy in the warm or go out and about in the area to some great museums and events, many under-cover. Perfect for children and adults alike!

The Chichester Canal offers Easter bunny themed boat trips each year, for all ages. You sit inside the boat! Wheelchair accessible.

The Novium Museum in Tower Street, Chichester is open to everyone, is free, and even has great wheelchair access. Here you can dicover more about the Ciyt and locality from our Roman and Saxon predessors to the Victorians.

Weald and Downland Museum has plenty of run-around space as well as a wonderful collection of saved and restored old buildings all set in the South Downs National Park at Singleton. There are egg hunts and other specially themed weekends (throughout the year). Note: this location is hilly and there is quite a distance between buildings – not all is great for wheelchair access as a result.

Chichester Harbour boat trips from Itchenor on the solar boat through the Conservancy office 01243 512301 (wheelchair access) or via “Wingate”. Booking essential.

Easter Eggs

Fishbourne Roman Palace – history, dressing up and other activities during the holidays and half terms.

A wonderful walk along the beach – Selsey, Witterings etc followed by lunch / supper at one of the many beach-side restaurants or local pubs. There are plenty to choose from and they do good food!  Accessible Wheelchair available at W Wittering Beach. Pre-book. Dog friendly with some restrictions.

The Novium Museum in Tower Street, Chichester is free for all, and has great wheelchair access too. Learn about the Saxons and Romans, the history and archaeology of the area, what happened in different parts of the City and even what happened during the Wars. It cosy and warm, and also houses the Tourist Information Centre. Special events and tours take place particularly around the school holidays.

If you want to keep to a chocolate theme – why not learn about chocolate tempering etc – Le Salon du Chocolat does classes and is situated in Chichester just past the Hospital.

Hopefully this has inspired a few thoughts to get you started.

Whilst you are staying at Chichester Self Catering though – don’t forget that the gardens also offer plenty of space and hiding opportunities for an Easter Egg hunt! and you can do some cooking too – there are muffin and cake tins.
